How to Stop Wrinkles Caused by Air Pollution
December 12th, 2016 by Defense Against AgingLiving in cities can cause you to age faster.
It has nothing to do with a person’s lifestyle like many would assume. Air pollution plays a big role in causing wrinkles and premature aging.
In this post, we will look at the effect environmental pollution has on your skin and how you can combat it naturally. Luckily there is a lot we can do to keep our skin looking young and vibrant even when we live in places that attack our skin.
In the following article, Damian Carrington looks at the new research on exactly how air pollution affects the skin and causes wrinkles:
Air pollution causes wrinkles and premature ageing, new research shows
Air pollution is prematurely ageing the faces of city dwellers by accelerating wrinkles and age spots, according to emerging scientific research.
The effects of toxic fumes on skin are being seen in both western cities, such as London and New York, as well as in more visibly polluted Asian cities and in some cases may be the primary cause of ageing. The pollution is also being linked to worsening skin conditions such as eczema and hives.
The scientific discoveries are now driving the world’s biggest cosmetics companies to search for solutions, including medicine-like compounds that directly block the biological damage. But doctors warn that some common skin care routines, such as scrubs, make the damage from air pollution even worse.
Researchers and cosmetics giants are working to create medicines and products that will combat or even block the effects of air pollution on the skin. At this point, there is no way of knowing exactly how long they will take, but there are things you can do today to protect your skin. The best way to protect your skin is to have healthy skin after all.
Courtney Dunlop put together a four-step plan to protect your skin from pollution:
4 Ways to Combat the Aging Effects of Pollution
The skin’s barrier is designed to keep pollution out, but unfortunately, it’s not completely impenetrable and these particles are absorbed into the skin on a daily basis, contributing to premature aging.
Ground-level ozone is a gas created when toxic emissions from cars and factories combine with sunlight. The resulting molecule is highly reactive and causes free radicals to form that can damage the lipids and proteins of the skin. The other main pollution source is solid dirt particles, which sit on the surface of the skin and increase inflammation.
While looking older offers legitimate concerns, there are more immediate consequences as well. Airborne pollutants cause a chemical reaction with your natural oils, changing them to a waxier consistency that can clog pores. And those suffering from rosacea can experience flare-ups due to irritants in the air.
You can increase the effectiveness of vitamins by combining certain one’s together. Dunlop’s next article covers a few super skincare combinations that will really take everything we have been looking at to the level.
Skincare Combos That Boost Anti-Aging Benefits
Some combinations yield a final product that’s better than each individual ingredient on its own (think peanut butter and jelly or Affleck and Damon). The same is true for skincare products. It might seem at first that throwing another step into your routine would be annoying, but doing so could actually help you get more for your money—and more youthful skin.
The fact that something so important and out of your control as air being one of your biggest enemies when combating wrinkles and aging is frightening. It’s not something you can run from, but you can fight it by protecting your skin. In the above articles, we saw how important antioxidants are in preventing aging. We recommend you try RESERVE to get the right amount of antioxidants every day.
